Is your Calgary Landscape looking like an empty canvass filled with potential?
After a hard day at work, it is nice to come home to a place where you can relax stress free.
Think of the echo of streaming water while sitting on your patio enjoying a warm Calgary Morning, with your family there by your side making the most of your amazing landscape.
Calgary is an interesting place to plan a landscape as we are subject to erratic weather. I think everyone in Calgary has gone outside after a good night’s sleep and seen a blanket of snow over their Backyard Landscape in May, June and sometimes even July & August.
Having a backyard that you can be proud of is worth it, despite the short season.
When planning your Calgary Landscapes the first thing to do is decide on your budget and then fit your needs to your budget. Good Landscapers can be hard to come by in Calgary and the price of a good landscaper can certainly be reflected in the quality of their work. Just ask to take a tour of their Calgary Landsccapes.
It can be tempting to hire the cheapest landscaper in Calgary, I can assure you that you are asking for trouble if you choose this route when hiring a landscaper.
There’s a big variance in terms of quotations for the same Landscaping construction projects. This is inevitably true for the Calgary area. The prospering economy that Calgary saw in recent years has made it very easy for inexperienced landscapers to enter the market.
A Calgary couple I met had a first had experience with one of these landscapers. They had a landscape wall to build and went ahead and got a few quotes from a few landscapers. The quotes came in between $16,000.00 & $35,000. What an insane difference for the same landscaping project.
The Calgary couple decided to choose the low end landscaping quote. You can guess what happened. The Landscapers came to the Calgary Couple’s house with two shovels and two bodies, they had no machinery and took 4 months to complete a job that any other Calgary Landscaper would have completed in three weeks.
Also, to add insult to injury, the lack of machinery made it impossible to dig down far enough to get to a proper sub base. Most Landscapers in Calgary at least have a skidsteer, a backhoe would be recommended for this project. Any Landscaper in Calgary knows that you have to get to the clay in order for a landscaper retaining wall to be stable.
Now back to the couple from Calgary. The two landscapers build the landscape wall with shovels, they took almost all summer to build the landscape wall. Once they were finished all of the landscaping a rain storm hit and caused the wall to break apart.Imagine that, the kids forgot to account for drainage. The stability of the landscape wall paid the price.
The Calgary couple took pride in their home and had it rebuilt. The costs to rebuild the landscape wall were about $5000.00 to un build what was done wrong and then they ended up hiring a Calgary Landscaper that knew what they were doing for around $30,000.00. This doesn’t include the extra summer that it took to get their project done.
Total cost: they ended up paying more for their Calgary Landscaping than if they had just done it right (with the high bidder) in the first place.
Moral of the story, hire a Calgary landscaper who has references, a solid portfolio and low and behold, DO NOT hire a landscaper that comes in at half the bid price of the rest of the contractors, especially in Calgary.
Good luck with all of your Calgary Landscaping endeavors and make sure you do proper research before hiring a Calgary Landscaping Contractor .
