How many quarts of oil should a 1970 el camino take. Has a 350 crate motor?

Posted on July 25th, 2011 by admin

and why does the car die out when your warming it up ..when you turn the steering wheel?

It take 5 qts. of oil, including the filter… Adjust your automatic choke… And you will be ready to go… As long as the choke is still good…

Do I register online FIRST for El Camino College and THEN register in person?

Posted on July 21st, 2011 by admin

So, I’m taking summer classes at El Camino Collage in California. Do I register for U.S. History online at myecc or do I register for it on my registration date?

I’m in high school and I already did that K-12 student stuff.

Since you are a new college (not "collage") student, here is a tip:

Talking (either by telephone or in-person) with someone in the college admissions office will get you the best information regarding your situation.

No doubt you have already followed the steps El Camino College staff recommend for new students, as detailed here:

http://mycusthelp.com/ELCAMINO/_cs/AnswerDetail.aspx?sSessionID=9918828174CSSRZJUDJEACRETXMAQZXRWYQGHNGT&sFilA=Categories&Inc=136&FB=-1&sFilB=Subcategories%20&FA=-1&sFilC=&FC=-1&=

If you have not, then those are the steps you need to complete first.

Best wishes

How much money in rebuilding an El Camino?

Posted on January 14th, 2011 by admin

I’m looking to buy my fist car. I love 78- 82 El Camino’s. I was wondering how much it would coast to rebuild most of the parts ( transition, engine, carburetors, ect.) My dad has the lifts and stuff to do it I just need to know how much money is needed.

you can tie up about $6,000 just in rebuilding the drive train, that’s not including any body work or anything else on the vehicle.

Which is the best time of the year to do the Way of St. James ( El Camino de Santiago) in Spain?

Posted on October 17th, 2010 by admin

Some friends and I are planning to do the Camino de Santiago walk. We would like to do part of it in 5 days. Which route should we take? Which is the best time of the year? Thank you.

May or early June would be the best time to walk, or in the Autumn from mid September to early October. Summer, July and August, are just too hot and the Camino Frances (the most popular route) is very crowded with students and school kids.

If you’re reasonably fit and used to walking you could try the Camino Frances from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. That’s a distance of 111kms, and walking the last 100kms of the Camino qualifies you for the Compostela certificate from the Pilgrims Office in Santiago. Just remember to pick up a pilgrim ‘credencial’ in Sarria from one of the albergues. This part of the route has plenty of albergues and hotels, so it won’t be a problem finding a bed.

There are many Camino routes through Spain. The Camino Ingles, from the coast to Santiago, can be walked in just a few days but is more difficult than the Camino Frances. And you could also walk part of the Camino Portugues, but I’m not sure that’s quite as well set up.

There are plenty of internet resources on the various routes and there are forums where you can get advice from people who’ve already walked the Camino. A couple of forums I like are Santiagobis – which you will find through Yahoo Groups, and http://www.caminodesantiago.me Another good resource is the Confraternity of St James website which has plenty of information on walking the Camino plus a bookshop with guides to each of the Camino routes, and you can find maps and rough guides here of the various routes: http://www.csj.org.uk

What is the best way to boost the horsepower in my 1976 El Camino?

Posted on October 15th, 2010 by admin

Short of putting a supercharger in… I would like to know of anything I can do that wouldn’t be as expensive and labor intensive as major modification like a turbo or super charger.

An engine is basically an air pump so anything to make it breath better helps.New heads, intake, free flowing exhaust with headers and a cam would help. The good thing about going that route is you can add the parts over time as your budget allows.

How much would it cost and how hard would it be just to put a duramax engine in an el camino?

Posted on October 12th, 2010 by admin

If I just did the engine and kept the el camino’s trans. how much would it cost? and would I Have to upgrade the rearend? how much would that cost?

the el camino trans will not bolt up to that engine… you would be better off finding a totaled truck with that engine in it and putting all the parts you would need on your el camino…. you are talkin a few thousand dollars….it would be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more if you bought the parts new
