What do you think of latest news out of Mexico Mexican priest alleges mass kidnapping of Central American?

What do you make of latest news out of Mexico Mexican priest alleges mass kidnapping of Central American migrants ?
Reporting from Mexico City— A Roman Catholic priest who has long championed the cause of migrant workers on Monday denounced what he said was another mass kidnapping of undocumented Central Americans purportedly yanked from a train by masked gunmen in southern Mexico.

Father Alejandro Solalinde, who runs the Hermanos en el Camino shelter for migrants, said at least 80 people primarily from Guatemala and Honduras were apparently abducted Friday in Veracruz state. He based his claim on information from several members of the group who said they managed to escape. If the report is true, this will be the latest in a string of cases in which armed gangs have intercepted illegal immigrants on their voyage across Mexico to the United States. The gangs often try to extort money from the immigrants’ families or force them to work as drug mules or in other tasks.

Many of those abducted have ended up in mass graves; in the worst massacre of such migrants, 72 were slain execution-style last year in Tamaulipas state, which borders Texas.

The National Commission for Human Rights demanded Solalinde’s assertions be investigated swiftly and that the missing immigrants rescued. The commission says it documented the kidnapping or disappearance of 11,333 immigrants in a six-month period last year and criticized the government for failing to improve safety conditions.

Solalinde told reporters that the witnesses said about 10 heavily armed men pulled the migrants from a train when it stopped at a desolate spot around midday. The gunmen seemed to especially target women and children, rounding them up first and forcing them into waiting trucks, he said.

"Some ran and escaped but the others didn’t," Solalinde said. "And now we don’t know what’s happening to these poor people."The group totaled up to 250 people, many of whom had been staying in Solalinde’s shelter in Oaxaca state before the abduction, the priest said. He suspected the notorious Zetas criminal network to be responsible.

The federal attorney general’s office said it would investigate the incident. President Felipe Calderon has repeatedly had to face the anger of Central American governments that complain their citizens are not being protected.

In an annual report on human trafficking released Monday, the U.S. State Department said Mexico "does not fully comply with the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking; however, it is making significant efforts to do so." It also noted reports that local authorities were often in cahoots with the gangs.

With fanfare, Mexico last month signed an immigration law meant to reduce the dangers and announced a purge of corrupt immigration officers.

Should these countries demand answers from Mexico like Mexico demands from U.S. ?

Maybe it’s time the U.N. step in and invade and take over Mexico. The country is a failure.Drug-related violence has claimed some 35,000 lives since President Felipe Calderon militarized the struggle against the country’s cartels shortly after taking office in December 2006.

A total of 15,270 people died in drug-related violence in Mexico last year alone.

It’s time the world step in and take over Mexico , install a new gov. If this happened in America, every supporter would be demanding action, lawsuits, arrests, when Mexico does it, supporters act like Mexico never does no wrong.Mexico last month signed an immigration law meant , key word meant…. Looks good in print it’s still the same ole story in Mexico

1970 el camino do is my oil pressure low ? Do I need oil?

Posted on August 26th, 2011 by admin

When i bought the car about 2 months ago the oil pressure gauge would always be at 50 . Today i noticed when im at a stop light it goes down to under 25. when i hit the gas again it goes back up. Is this right or do i need oil or is it something else? Thanks for answering

Actually this is about right. GM cars have always benn kind of notorious for low oil pressure at idle.

I’ve owned GM cars and trucks most of my life and low oil pressure at idle has always been common.

Can someone tell me about the possible deeper meaning of these lyrics?

Posted on August 23rd, 2011 by admin

Here is the verse in Spanish and below that is the translation into English that i found on the internet….although its a clear translation, I would like to know if the verse has a deeper meaning besides what it literally is saying…any opinions? (from the song Pa’l Norte by Calle 13)

Unas piernas que respiran…
Veneno de serpiente…
Por el camino del viento…
Voy soplando agua ardiente

A pair of legs that breathe in…
Venom from snakes…
By the way of the wind…
I go exhaling blazing water…

yes…pretty close..you know that is difficult to express the deep meaning to another language, but not so bad

whats the difference in a Fuel Injected engine and a chevy 350 engine?

Posted on August 21st, 2011 by admin

i am looking to buy a el camino with a 350 4 main motor, im pretty good with fuel injected cars but im worried i dont know enough about carb engines, what are some things to look for when buying a car with a 350 motor? And How do the 350 motors work compared to say a 2.0 Fuel Injected motor?

The early TBI engines are essentially the same as the carbureted ones. The later ones have some differences in the heads and obviously the intake systems, and they use roller cams. As far as condition and such the same rules would apply whether it has a carb or not. I’m not sure what your question is about a 2.0, a small 4 cylinder and big V-8 are very different animals in how they behave and how you would modify them. A 350 will have much more torque and generally turn a lot slower than a 4 cylinder at a given speed.

What color should I paint my 64′ El Camino?

Posted on August 19th, 2011 by admin

I was thinking silver with black interior…..
I’m looking for a unique color that not much cars have.
any suggestions will help, but no 2 tone.

IMO, silver isn’t real great with chrome. I’d find a deep cherry red or royal blue.

How cool is a ’75 El Camino on a scale of 1-10?

Posted on August 16th, 2011 by admin

http://www.elcaminocentral.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=39184&g2_serialNumber=2

1 being lime green 1981 ford escort
10 being 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder
no, the 80′s camino’s looked awful but the 1973-76 Camino’s looked fine

I started driving in the 70′s so the El C is a great car to me. its a niche car, not many were made and parts can be hard to come by.

Spanish help? ten points?

Posted on August 12th, 2011 by admin

I need someone to help check my translation, whoever helps me the most will get ten points.

The first site is Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
What you can do at the site is take guided tours around the ruins.
It is of cultural interest because it is an ancient Inca ruins site.
I think that this would be a lot of fun to visit!
The second site is the Inca trail.
What you do on the Inca trail is hike the trail and look at the wonderful views that it offers.
The Inca trail is of cultural interest is because it was created by the Inca as a way to get to Machu Picchu from Cusco.
My opinion on it is that it is the best tourist site to visit if you love nature and hiking.

The third site of interest is the city of Cusco which is considered to be the historical capital city of Peru. The city of Cusco has many places to see and visit, and it is a great place for tourism.
The city is of cultural interest because it was once the capital of the Inca Empire.
I think that Cusco is the best place to go!

The capital letter words are the corrections. Over all you did ok translating it just practice more.

Mary Leigh’s Spanish Adventures. C/C?

Posted on August 7th, 2011 by admin

Please comment on or critique my poem.

Mary Leigh

Mary Leigh, Mary Leigh
Wanders along the Thames
People stare at Mary Leigh
While Mary stares at them

Mary Leigh went to sea
Carrying a cockle shell
On pilgrimage went Mary Leigh
In the course of St. James she fell.

El Camino freed our Mary Leigh
The heat and the olive trees
The shells guided Mary Leigh
Toward the land of the Portuguese.

Mary Leigh, made her way,
Down to the mollusk’s root
Compostela transformed Leigh
And she touched the apostle’s foot.

Mary Leigh, Mary Leigh
Smiling along the Thames
People smile at Mary Leigh
And she smiles back at them.

Copyright hgl 2011
In my mind of course, the Thames is the river of life from Row, Row, Row Your Boat. I hope BG that I am channeling Mary’s message that she has been transformed and is in a happy place. It just jumped out at me when I saw the name.

My own Mary Leigh was a classmate who vanished over 20 years ago. She was a nice girl, a good friend. Somehow this poem fits her – and the circumstances; she vanished on a pilgrimage in a place where grow olive trees. Is that weird or what, Hap? Thank you for this!

PS There’s a book called, "When God Winks"; I think this would fit as a chapter; I had the same feeling after reading your poem. Last year I posed a question on YAP about Mary Leigh, hoping by some miracle she would see it or someone would answer. No one did so I deleted it. Perhaps, all I need to know is that she is happy. God bless, Friend.

Can someone PLEASE translate this?

It’s one of my favorite songs, "90 Millas" from Gloria Estefan’s latest album ’90 Millas’. I understand the Spanish from it, I just don’t understand is the Afro-Spanish parts. I know who Elegua is he is a god from the Cuban religion’-Santeria-’ I know all about him.I know that the Spanish in Cuba has borrowed a lot of it’s words and phases from the Canary Islands. (No thanks to Spain). No offense to Spain but that’s how history goes, anyway if you can help thank you so much. Here are the lyrics:

90 Millas

Echodara Agoile, Agó Echure Oh

Elegua, Elegua ele, Elegua Eleguara
Noventa Millas vienen, Noventa Millas faltan

Echo Dara Agó Aba
Adaché Olu Osain
Aché Olurum, Aché Laa
Icuasesú Mi Yemayá

Elegua, Elegua ele, Elegua Eleguara
Noventa Millas vienen, Noventa Millas faltan

Paraloyuró Soquebogdaa
Abre el camino y bórrame la maldad
Pues mi destino está escrito ya
Llegó la libertad, llegó la libertad

Elegua, Elegua ele, Elegua Eleguara
Noventa Millas vienen, Noventa Millas faltan

Ibarakó Moyugbaa, Ibarakó Moyugbaa
Omonegonikon, Sibarakó
Moyuba Elegua Cholona
Elegua Pao Pa’ Ochéee

Elegua abre el camino, Elegua yo te sigo

Para su Allo Su Allo Mamaqueña
Erió Agó, Erios Motee
Noventa Millas vienen,
Noventa Millas faltan

Elegua Agó, Demi Papasemi,
Eho Dara Queña Iraboo

En la distancia
Ay! Donde tu vayas
Me traes esperanza
Y nunca me faltas

Abreme la puerta, mi padre Elegua
Al puble de Cuba traigame la libertas
Y Elegua, Ay mi papa
Aboyó Yenyami Omi O Yemaya

Elegua abre el camino, Elegua yo te sigo

go to walmart and ask one of those mexicans who work there to help you!!!lol
ps listen to english songs and you wouldnt have this problem
